For council waste and environment teams
Find where contamination happens. Prove what reduces it.
If your collection contractor records contamination at the kerb, you already have the data. BinSight turns it into a map of where problems are, a dashboard to understand them, and a way to measure whether your education campaigns are working.
- Developed and tested with council waste officers.
- Now taking registrations of interest ahead of general release.
Find it, understand it, act on it
BinSight helps you work smarter. Each part does one job, and together they take you from spotting a problem to showing whether you fixed it.
-
Map
Find where the problems are
Explore contamination across your area and see where it keeps coming back.
- Switch between hotspot, street and suburb views
- Compare streets fairly with contamination rates that account for the number of homes
- See how contamination has changed over time, and see which areas are improving or getting worse
-
Dashboard
Dig into what’s going on
Build a dashboard around the questions you need answered. No report-building or data skills needed.
- Add charts, tables and figures by typing what you want to see, like “plastic bag contamination”
- Focus each one on a suburb, street, contaminant, bin type or time period
- Customise your dashboard to show the information you need to tackle the issue
-
Campaigns
Act, and see whether it worked
Record your education campaigns and track contamination in the areas you targeted.
- Target streets or suburbs, and set a goal for reducing contamination
- Compare contamination before and after the campaign started
- End a campaign early, or rerun it if contamination returns
- Prove what worked, what didn't, and justify funding
Getting started
BinSight works from the contamination records your collection contractor already collects. Upload them as they arrive, as CSV, Excel or JSON files.
Every file is checked before it’s imported. If something is missing or doesn’t match what BinSight expects, we'll let you know so we can keep your data accurate.
When you start, we load your area’s streets and suburbs and help bring in your existing records, so your team isn’t starting from an empty screen.
